The body of work by Giorgia Lo Faso (b.1993, Italy) moves between, images, debris, sculpture, installation, and preservation techniques. Particularly she is interested in the visual possibilities that mediums and languages can generate, especially in the discourse of painting.

Concepts such as image reproduction, trace, memory, space, and the archive has been my main focus. My artistic practice has primarily focused on the use of watercolor, applied directly onto walls, arches, columns, corners, and cornices of apartments destined for demolition or temporary spaces.
During this process I have studied and experimented with traditional restoration techniques, adapting their principles of conservation, relocation, and transportation.

Through a certain methodology that involves tearing down, rethinking, and reassembling the space itself, this latter has become an exciting e vivid investigation material. Based on the multiple temporalities inherent in a multistage process of (de)materialization, I searched for a way to formulate time as a container of images, seeing painting as a means to continuously translate memories into a new, physical space.

Lo Faso holds a BA and an MA in Graphic and Chalcographic Techniques from the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, Italy 2017 and 2019, resp., and obtained her MA Fine Arts at the HKU, University of the Arts Utrecht, the Netherlands (2022).
