During the residency, I questioned the utility of the desk I was given to work on.
On its surface, images sourced daily from Al Jazeera News are painted using phosphorescent powders
in water dispersion.
These images disappear and reappear, only to fade once more, in a cycle of presence and absence.
This work tries to address the way we look at the endless stream of images of aggressions, brutal occupation, genocide, providing audiences with a tool - a small torch-, a symbol of responsibility in transmitting mutual knowledge.
The work was developed during a month-long residency at DUPLEX AIR, Lisbon (PT)
